DAY 1 CUSCO - HUACA PASE CASI - LARES HOT SPRINGS – HUACAWASI
Approximately at 7:00 a.m. we will pick you up from your hotel to travel towards the village of Lares where we will start the walk. During this journey we will make a stop in the village of Calca, where you can visit the local market to buy your breakfast or other supplies that you forgot. When arriving in Lares we will visit the hot springs where you will be able to enjoy the warm water while our cooks prepare a wonderful meal. After lunch we will start the walk to our first encampment in Huacawasi (3600 meters above sea level). In 3 hours you have to walk up little by little so you get a good warm-up for the following day, when we will reach the highest point of the path. We will spend the first night in the house of our horsemen who join us on the trip. On arrival your tents will be ready and we can have dinner.
DAY 2 HUACAWASI - SONDOR - PASO SACSAYLLAME - ARURAY COCHA - YURAK COCHA - MISKI UNU
After our nutritious breakfast we will start to walk towards the highest point, the Sacsayllame pass (4400 meters above sea level). The walking will take more or less 4 hours and will be steep; of course an emergency-horse will accompany us. During this walk you will be able to enjoy the enormous mountains, a mosaic of farmland and stunning views; note that we will reach great heights and the weather can be very cold. After reaching the highest point we will descend and pass by a wonderful lagoon before we eat by the river. You will be able to recuperate while our cooks prepare a delicious meal for you. Then we will descend further through a forest in which you can enjoy the “Quueña” (Polylepis), typical for Perú. This walk will take approximately 1 hour before we arrive at our campsite in Miski Unu (3550 meters above sea level). An amazing place in the middle of nowhere, where you will receive some appetizers on arrival before we have dinner.
DAY 3 MISKI UNU - QUESHUARCHALLOC - OLLANTAYTAMBO - AGUAS CALIENTES
This day will be another spectacular day when walking downhill through different forests. You will be able to enjoy the rich biodiversity and the change of flora and fauna during the 3 hours until we arrive in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Be careful, while walking in the forest there will be many mosquitos! We will take delight in our last lunch in Queshuarchalloc, where we will say goodbye to our horses and cooks. After we had lunch we will take a local bus to Ollantaytambo. We will visit the beautiful city of Ollantaytambo before having dinner in a local restaurant. At 19:00 we will take the train destined for the village of Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the last night.
